The Co-Founders of FFTI 

Meet Karrie and Nic!

We’re Karrie Page and Nicole Dickson, two passionate speech-language pathologists dedicated to empowering families and professionals alike. We thrive on learning, teaching, and collaborating, and our infectious energy and excitement for oral function shines through in everything we do.

With a shared belief that “we grow through what we go through,” we’ve each embarked on distinct journeys of discovery that have shaped our professional practices over the past 20+ years. Throughout our careers, we’ve often found ourselves reflecting on moments like, “We didn’t learn this in graduate school!” and “How did we not know about this?!” These realizations sparked a mission, leading to the formation of FFTI. If we didn’t learn this crucial information, how could we expect other therapists—or parents—to know? It’s our responsibility as health professionals to bridge that gap and share this knowledge.

Through our work, we’ve come to understand that “kids don’t grow out of it; they grow into it.” This insight has led us to recognize the importance of addressing oral function challenges at every stage of life, from infants to adults.

We’re here to educate and empower parents, but we also know that to do that effectively, we need to help more professionals grasp the foundational aspects of oral function, such as oral rest posture. By fostering a supportive community of informed therapists and engaged families, we aim to create a ripple effect of awareness and positive change.
